Daphney came to us with a friend, Gretchen. It's clear to us that they're not bonded to each other but this little one definitely needs to have another dog in her future home. We don't know her background but are pretty sure she wasn't treated very well. Because she is very shy, we feel she would do best in a quieter home, spending most of her time with adults and another four-legged friend. With patience, time, and some training, she'll be a wonderful member of your family.
Sweet Beau would love to be your one and only. He prefers to be in charge and he will play with other dogs; however, he prefers that they live somewhere else! This beautiful tricolor boy is just waiting for the right family to come along.
This sweet face will melt your heart but she is also a busy little girl! She's cuddly, funny, and busy. Daisy will definitely do best in a home with another dog that she can play with and who can help teach her some manners. Time and patience will also be a must to help her grow into a wonderful member of your family. Oh, did we mention she's a very busy Basset Hound?
Charlotte is about one year old and was recently rescued from a puppy mill situation. She is quite shy but playful. As she is still just a puppy, house-manner training will be a must. She is affectionate, lovely, and sweet. This beautiful, young Basset will make an impressive adult with just a little patience and training. We do require a securely fenced yard.
Scout is just about the sweetest boy you'll ever meet. He could have a bit of Beagle in him, which would perhaps make him a "Bagel." Scout enjoys the company of other dogs and would be a great addition to your family.
Rescued from a puppy mill in a high-kill state, Burton has made his way to Salt Lake and is now looking for his forever home. Cute as a button, Burton is about a year old and needs lots of training in house manners. Burton is a Beagle/Basset mix commonly referred to as a Bagel. He loves to play, gets along well with other dogs, and is learning to love people. He's just a little shy from lack of socialization but will warm up to you. We feel he would do best in a home with another dog. We do require a securely fenced yard.
Ruby comes across as being very sure of herself and in charge, when in fact she is insecure and tries to cover it up by being loud. She does settle down, eventually. With some obedience training, she will be nicer to live with and it will be very good for her self esteem. This gorgeous “red head” has been waiting for her forever family for a little while now. We’re keeping her safe and loved and her belly full but she really needs a quieter place and would do best with another dog in her forever home. We do require a securely fenced yard.
If you're looking for nonstop fun, Coco is your girl. She has a charming personality and at least some Hound in her. While it's not too difficult to get her attention, holding it for any length of time is quite another thing! This girl is all about being a puppy.
Billie Jean is a young little girl who loves everyone; dogs, people, everyone. She is very active! Billie Jean will be happiest with another dog to play with in her forever home. She is house trained to use a doggie door but will be much more fun to live with if she has some obedience training.
Daisy is young, cute, playful, and would do best in a home with another dog. No one has taken any time to train her, so obedience class would be a great idea; she does know how to use a doggie door. We do require a fenced yard for all our hounds but Daisy will need a tall solid fence. She can easily get over a four foot x-pen.
Roscoe is an active young boy and would do best living with a family who has another dog with whom he can play. He absolutely loves other dogs and people. Roscoe will need some help with his manners; with some training he’ll be a wonderful addition to your family. He is house trained to use a doggie door.
Annie is a beautiful Houndie-Girl; mostly Basset with a little American Fox Hound, perhaps; just enough to make her even more charming. Annie came to UFBH as a stray. A baby herself, she was very pregnant when she arrived and gave birth to eight beautiful babies the day after Christmas, December 26, 2021. This sweet little one will be looking for a home around the middle of March when her puppies are ready to be on their own. She is very young and seems to have not had training of any kind. Annie is starved for attention and exceptionally loving. If you are interested in Annie, or one of her puppies, now would be the time to submit an application with the understanding that they would not be available until the middle March. We do require a securely fenced yard.
Roko is a young and energetic Basset boy with a little something else mixed in. We're not sure just what but it sure adds to his charming personality. He's very sweet and loves to play. In order to be the best Basset boy he can be, he will need a playmate to live with and some training. Lots of love, patience, and training goes a long way to making a happy family member.
Duke is a lovely young adult Basset Hound! He still loves to play but doesn't last as long as the younger pups. His only fault is that he doesn’t like to share; especially food and treats. He will need to be fed in a separate room and great care taken with treats around other dogs; he's not a best choice for being around small children. This otherwise charming guy is truly a lover and a lap dog. If you're looking for a serious movie or book partner, Duke's your boy!
Gretchen is an adorable white dog, probably a little bit of Lab and maybe some Shepherd, but we can't tell you for sure. What we can tell you is that she is incredibly sweet. She loves to cuddle and her foster mom tells us she is a very good girl. Gretchen would love to be in a home with another dog as she loves to play.
This little one is just about the cutest BHG (Basset Hound Girl) you'll meet. Sookie is friendly, loving, and playful. She would love to have another dog to play with in her future home. This sweet girl has a lot of potential; with some training and patience she'll be a wonderful addition to your family.
Bernie is an interesting little terrier mix, weighing in at just under 22 pounds. We believe him to be between 10 and 12 years old but has the energy of a much younger guy. He is heartworm positive and will need 3-4 months of very low activity. He has some skin issues from the terrible case of fleas that had been left untreated. The fleas are all gone, but he is still recovering some of the hair loss. He will be happiest in a home with a playmate after his treatment is completed. He’s looking for a temporary or forever home. (Utah Friends of Basset Hounds will cover the expenses of his treatments.)
Nay Nay is an extremely energetic young girl and will need to have a home with another dog to play with her. As seriously as she takes her play time, she's equally enthusiastic about her cuddle time with her people. This little bundle of love and fun will need a securely fenced yard; the fence must be at least 5-6 feet tall.
Only a little over one year old, this little one likes to be in charge. Frankie is a lovely young Basset girl who really likes to play and would do best in a home with another dog. She's also wonderfully cuddly!
Not just beautiful on the outside, this sweet young girl has the best personality and disposition; she's quiet, loving, and gentle. Bernice will be a wonderful addition to any family. We do require a fenced yard.
Still just a puppy herself, Riley Sue has been busy being a mom. Now that that part of her life is over, she can work on being a happy, loving, playful young basset hound. She is a little on the shy side at first but warms up nicely and really loves to have her peoples attention.
Despite his name, Waylon is not much of a singer but he is every bit the lover. He wants your attention and reassurance that he is loved. He enjoys playing with the other dogs but you are his focus. As he ages, he will be your best friend and companion.
Polly Pocket is a very active little beagle! She's just now getting to have her own childhood; she was used as the surrogate mom for a litter of basset puppies. Now, she is done with that job and ready to be her own special self.
Miss Mabel is a 7-year-young giant bucket of love! A spunky and sweet companion who loves to hang out and have conversations with you. She loves car rides, walks, and belly rubs. She is housetrained and loves to hang outside. A puppy at heart, she prances around with her toys and will not get up on furniture or beds unless she is invited (except when there is a scary storm and then she wants cuddle right next to you). She would be perfect as an only dog or with a single doggy brother or sister (she gets overwhelmed in large groups and tries to escape or hide). Mabel is gentle and rarely barks and loves all people and could be your very best friend and television buddy!
Lily needs a quiet place where she can be loved and cared for during the few months of treatment it takes to kill off deadly heartworms. After that, she will be a loving healthy basset hound who will play and run circles around the rest of the pack!
Theo is a young beagle boy who joined UFBH after the shut down of a backyard breeder. Now that job is done and he can move on to being the happy little boy he is meant to be. Theo would probably like to be an only dog but would do well with another playmate if it's the right fit. He does love to play and run around the yard. After which, he will come and sit quietly next to his person and just watch.
Cherry will not be having any more puppies! While she was a great mom, that part of her life is in the past. Cherry's foster mom calls her "extraordinary." She loves to play, get belly rubs, and snuggling on a nice soft couch. She is house trained and a great watch dog but she does not like loud noises (thunder and fireworks). Cherry's new family will want to invest in chew bones and toys as she is absolutely still a puppy!

Theo is a beautiful active Basset mix. He's probably mixed with Beagle which would make him a "Bagel!" He's very playful and loves other dogs and people. He will need some help with his manners. Small children might be at some risk of getting knocked down with his enthusiasm but then he would lick them all better. Theo needs a family with patience and the willingness to train him; so he can be the best Theo he can be.
Lucy is charming little girl that loves everyone; people and other dogs, alike. She is playful, snuggly, energetic, and sweet as sugar candy. Lucy is just a love of a baby basset looking for someone to love her back.
