Chance likes everyone. He is not particularly vocal and cares very little about cats. He is not highly food motivated and so he maintains a nice weight. He's a little on the quiet side for his age, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. He does interact and play with some of the other younger bassets and he does go to daycare most days—maybe that's why he's so mellow at home! Chance is housetrained. Maybe the only "bad" habit he has is that he really likes to sleep in the human bed. The nice part is that he does ask every night as opposed to just jumping up without permission. Chance would be great as an only dog or with other dogs or cats. If you want a nice quiet, good-looking basset boy to spend time with, Chance is the one for you.

An 8-year old basset, Buddy loves to be with others—dogs, people—any creature who will pal around with him. He's easy to please and will be oh so grateful for a family to call his own. Although we haven't had very long, we do know that he loves to snuggle, chase balls, take walks, and just hang out. Buddy is a pleaser and not a dominant type. If you want a lover he?s your guy!
"And they called it Puppy Loooooove" That's my favorite song ever! Why? Well, 'cuz I'm a puppy (like duh!) and because when you meet me, you'll be in love! You won't be able to help it, I have that effect. I'm four months young and love to play! I'm a good girl though and play with plush toys and rawhides. A Kong filled with frozen peanut butter makes me giddy! Keep me busy with any of those and I'll be loads of fun. I might grab the occasional slipper but gently steer me back to one of my toys and I'll understand. I'm doggie-door potty trained already, too! I have an occasional little accident but only when I get really excited to see you. I'm workin' on it, I am still a pup you know. Oh, and I'm really good and coming to you when called. I figure there must be some treats or good luvin' in it for me so I can't wait to find you. Since I'm still in my "formative years" I don't really have any bad habits yet, I love to play with other doggies and I'm pretty sure I'm good with kids as long as they're not mean to me. I'd hate to grow up not liking them as they seem like so much fun and full of energy like me! I would love to be part of your family and learn as I grow. I promise I'll be as good as you teach me to be. "And they called it Puppy Loooooove." I just can't get it out of my head! Oooooh.... a Kong with peanut butter! Gotta Go!
Duncan is a handsome and rugged tri-color basset gentleman. He is potty trained and walks well on leash. He loves large and small dogs of all ages. He adores men! Duncan would like a home that has time for him; and that would include walks. Don't let those little legs fool you; this is a great, enthusiastic, and busy boy. He's quiet, curious, and likes kids. Duncan's only flaw is that when he gets excited he likes to hold your hand in his mouth. He's very gentle about it, but his foster family is teaching him to act his age, 4 years, and not be such a puppy. Do you have an empty lap? A couch to share? Duncan is your man!

Laney (now called Belle) is a cute little girl who would adore someone to rub her belly all day long. She and her brother, Leo (now called Bogie), have been looking for someone to love them and give them attention for their whole lives. Of the two littermates, Belle is the more laid back hound. She has no particular issues and is quite adaptable to varied lifestyles. Belle would enjoy sleeping in late on the weekends with you—sharing the bed, naturally! She also enjoys sunning her belly in the backyard. However, like Bogie, she cannot be left outdoors for the whole day or night. She and Bogie create fun and exciting games to play when left outside with no recourse to come indoors. Belle is housetrained and crate trained.
(Belle and Bogie (officially called, Leo and Laney) are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.)
Leo (now called Bogie) came to UFBH several years ago. He was adopted and then returned when the family situation changed and there was no longer time for him and his littermate care. Bogie is a sweet dog who really hungers for attention. He would enjoy sharing the sofa with you and snuggling as long as you would allow. He is housetrained but would prefer a doggie door. Bogie and his sister, Laney (now called Belle), have been through quite a lot together and are bonded. It's not unusual to see them curled up sleeping together. Bogie enjoys having a yard to play in but CANNOT be left outside during the day or night. He will be become very vocal and destructive. Bogie occasionally has issues with sharing food, but this is easily handled by feeding seperately.
(Bogie and Belle (official names, Leo and Laney) are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.)
Thanks to my Virtual Foster...Auntie Loren!
Okay, so here's the thing. I like to play. No, I mean REALLY like to play so I'm looking for a family that has another doggie or two that can keep up with me. I like to chase, be chased, and absolutely love a good game of tug o' war. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in my love for playing, I don't always "get it" when another hound says "no." They might be old, tired, or just plain grumpy, but I have a hard time empathizing 'cause I'm just not any of those things! I am willing to play with the biggest, fastest, or slowest of dogs though, so I'm not fussy there. I am what you'd consider a "lightweight" (unlike my concrete block foster sister) so I'd be happy with another "lightweight." I've figured out the doggie door—no problem there. I'm working on not barking so much (hint, hint: lots of playtime helps here!) and I'm working on my leash walking. With gentle bribes (aka...treats), I've learned that my crate is a good place to stay during the day. And, you'll be happy to know I haven't had any potty accidents at home!
I am a sweet, loving girl. I may play hard but I'm a gentle soul who appreciates a good cuddle.

As you can see, Duncan is a lovely red and white boy. What you can't see is how affectionate he is. He just adores being snuggled and loved. He is currently living in a foster home with lots of other bassets and two cats. He gets along great with all of them. He is housetrained. He would much prefer to sleep late in the mornings, have a nice nap mid-day, and snuggle up early in the evening to watch TV. He likes to spend his time watching out the window for people walking down the sidewalk and will give a little bark when he sees one that he thinks needs announcing, otherwise he is very quiet. Duncan doesn't really mind having playmates, but he could really take them or leave them. He would be great as an only dog or as a companion for another dog or cat. He's just an all round good boy looking for an all round good home.
Mmm...chewie! More information about George coming soon!
Robbie started out as a very insecure boy. However, it didn't take very long for him to settle in and learn the doggie door and the back yard. Robbie has lots of energy. He regularly participates in the "Basset 500"—in and out of the doggie door, around the yard, through the house, over the couch. Robbie has much love to offer someone. He learns quickly but still needs practice on not jumping up. He is still a puppy and would do best with lots of chew toys and bones. Robbie needs a family with time to work with him, building up his confidence and teaching him how to be an adult basset.

Toby is a very lovable guy and does not bark unless excited or he is hunting something fun. He's a very quiet sleeper who loves to dream about the prior days activities. He loves to play with his rope toy and take walks—morning and night to keep his stealth body! He is very friendly to everyone in the neighborhood from adults to children and dogs, although he'd do best if he didnt live one-on-one with kids. Best not to be around cats and birds since he is a hunter. Toby listens to commands (sometimes—he IS a basset) and knows his name. Belly rubs, petting, and brushing make Toby a happy boy!
I'm the beautiful half of a bonded pair (see Desi 195). I simply cannot live without my best pal, handsome Desi. Even though I'm younger and more demanding than Desi, we are very close and I am very distressed when we are apart. Between the two of us, I'm a little more playful and love all the toys that Desi brings me! I use the doggie door and while I am a little more possessive about food, I am not aggressive. I love-love-love belly rubs and will roll belly up on short notice anytime! I also love to be hugged, snuggled, and petted. Just think—because Desi and I are both so small, we'll fit on your lap together! I need a forever home that will give Desi and me lots of love!
I'm the older half of a bonded pair (see Lucy 196). I simply cannot live without my friend Lucy and nothing she does is wrong for me. I'm a very affectionate and handsome red and white hound, a little on the small side and definitely all basset! I have the howl to prove it! I love to play with toys and am very good at "fetch." I'll even bring the toy back to you instead of Lucy! I use the doggie door on a regular basis and I get along well with other dogs. I love people and really enjoy attention and snuggles. I need a forever home that will love both Lucy and me.
My name is Molly and my foster mom is really impressed with me! What can I say? I am a perfect dog! Anyone that meets me even for a few seconds falls in love with my adorable face and my cute personality. I love to go for walks and car rides. I listen very well, pay attention, and know all basic commands. I have yet to howl, though. I know my manners and wait for my foster mom to take me outside to go potty. I love belly rubs and I don't even mind sharing with another dog. I have made new friends on the trails but I can be a tad shy to dogs that approach me too quickly. Once I know that they are friendly, I'm okay. I have been around kids before and they are fine. I'm curious about cats but so far, I haven't chased them. Despite my age, I'm a very happy, energetic (but not too energetic), and healthy hound. I know I need to shed a few pounds, but we are working on that! So, if you are looking for a loveable, well-behaved, playful basset with a spunky and fun personality, then I'm your dog!
Barney is a loving, smart, and handsome dog. He enjoys going on daily hikes in the sagebrush on his flexi-lead and loves to see birds and chipmunks. He'd love to chase them but is quick to listen and leave it. Barney has been on a few walks around town and is a good boy on leash. Barney will need to go on more walks like this to gain experience and confidence but has done well so far. He LOVES LOVES LOVES to do obedience training with hotdog snacks and is very quick to learn verbal commands. While Barney has the energy and desire to be a great outdoor companion, he is able to relax around the house, which makes him the best of both worlds. He also loves to play catch with himself and a good toy. Barney is still a bit of a puppy and will need a 'puppy-proof' house until he matures a bit.
Barney has been working on getting along and sharing with his two foster brothers and foster sister but his foster mom really thinks he'd be happiest as an only dog. He can be very assertive to other dogs when it comes to his space, toys, and food and gravitates more toward the people in the house. Barney really seems to want to please his 'people' and would make a wonderful companion for the right someone. While Barney is very interested in his foster cat, he would probably do best in a house without a cat and lots of toys instead.

Looking for a basset to do agility? Henry's your boy! Henry is young and enthusiastic. He's muscular, quick, and VERY smart. He would be great for long walks or hikes, as he needs to burn off all that energy. Henry currently has three foster brothers in his same age bracket and the four of them really play hard and long. Henry mostly gets along well with older dogs, too, but they tend to be overwhelmed by his activiy level. Henry loves people and uses the doggie door faithfully. We are still working on not jumping up—he's just so happy to see you he can't help himself. He does need a little supervision around cats as he tries to catch them (not hurt them). If you have an active basset or another higher energy dog, please consider adopting Henry. He's a tenderhearted soul who really justs wants a a family to call his own.
Jake is one very special soft sweet boy. His coat is a little longer than most bassets and just the softest thing you've ever felt. Even at his young age, he is just a sweetie. His foster mom calls him "Bear." He likes to play, but doesn't get too rough. He's easy with all the other dogs, young, and old alike and doesn't even notice the cats. He is housetrained. He is very eager to please and will probably learn new skills quickly. He like an occasional toy to chew on, but generally leaves everything else alone. He doesn't seem to be obsessed with playing so he could be an only dog as long as he had people around to love. If you're looking for a really sweet, cuddly bear of a boy, Jake is the best.
What a cute little bundle of love this guy is. He likes to play with other dogs, he's very sweet with children and he's great with adults too. He really hasn't figured out the cats yet, but he's not so much interested in them as in their food. He's very curious and likes to be close by, especially if you sit down and want to share your space with him. Eeyore is on the small side for a basset but with plenty of love. He will be a very well rounded companion for a loving family.
Tug (on the left) is a handsome boy and a wonderful companion. He enjoys hikes with his friends (he's GREAT on a flexi and regular leash) and chillin' on the couch. Mostly he is a wonderful couch companion but needs to be reminded that there's room for everyone. Tug loves food more than he can even say. Sometimes he tries to keep all the food for himself but he is learning very well to share. He might be challenged in a home with small children, gooey fingers, and dropped food, however. Tug gets along well with the kitty and his two foster brothers and foster sister. He enjoys entertaining himself with toys and LOVES, LOVES, LOVES his foster dad. Tug would make a great only dog (he loves his people) but he'd enjoy a sibling his own age to play with as well. Tug is wonderfully potty trained and is happy to sleep in a crate or on his dog bed. We'd love to keep Tug but already have three Bassets—he's a great guy that will be your most dedicated friend for life.
My name is Daisy but my nickname is Daisy Dot Dot. That's a cute name, huh! It's because of the two dots on my back and because I'm adorable! I am a playful basset hound. My roomies and I like to hang out, bark at cats and dogs that pass by our fence every day. I have only been with my current foster family about a month so we are still getting acquainted. I have only had one accident here because I've learned to follow my roomies' lead; go when they do! This has worked out great for all of us. I have to say that my foster family is teaching me to sit when I get a treat and I'm catching on really quick! I am enjoying my time with my current foster family and roomies. I have fun here barking, playing, eating, and basking in the sun.
Gunther is the "almost perfect" basset. He is good with children, other dogs, people, even cats. He doesn't get on the furniture. He doesn't go potty in the house. He loves loves loves to be loved. He was probably abused in the past because he is very submissive and really cowers if you raise your voice. He minds really well and is getting better about answering to his name. Now for the "almost" part-he's a bit of a pirate. He likes to steal things and then bury his treasure in the yard-especially things that belong to his foster mommy. He's a very cute little basset with lots of love to give to everyone that comes near him.
Casey is a very sweet loving little boy with lots of freckles in both black and brown. Even though he's a little older than Jax, he and Jax are very bonded. It's hard to tell which one is more dependent on the other. I think that they were thrown together in a very stressful environment and clung to each other for security. It's possible, in time, that they would be ok apart, but would probably always need another dog to truly be happy. Casey loves to play with Jax and other dogs. He is also very loving and gentle with children. If you are looking for a pair of basset boys, then here's your ticket to perfection.
Bessie is a cute little rolly polly girl. She has that body and attitude that just rolls along being happy wherever she is. She is good with people, dogs, cats, and children. She enjoys a good walk or an outing in the park. She also enjoys a good nap or a race around the yard with her current playmates. Bessie would be great as an only dog or with other dogs. She's a very typical basset with just enough bounce to keep her interesting. She would love to come snuggle with you and be your special basset girl.
Rosco is a sweet loving boy with some serious leg issues. He loves to play and can race around the yard, but only for a short time—and more than a couple of stairs are a real challenge for him. He actually plays very well with other dogs but he doesn't much care for cats; he's never tried to attack them or even chase them. He's good at jumping up on furniture, but has a hard time jumping down so we are teaching him to avoid getting on the furniture entirely. Rosco definitely needs a home with very few or no stairs, only short walks, and lots of love.
Thank you to my virtual foster...Auntie Cheryl!
