Fred is a very easy going, affectionate boy. He loves cuddling, belly rubs and being brushed. He is crate trained, house trained; rides well in the car and is good with both dogs and cats. Fred is still young and as such still has some puppy habits...he likes to 'mouth' you when he thinks you aren't paying enough attention to him - but with a little training and some patience, Fred will make a great addition to your family.
I'm very quiet and a bit on the shy side. I adjust easily to new surroundings. I like to spend some of my time wandering the yard on my own or stretched out under a table or a safe out-of-the-way place. In spite of my arthritis, I can really move. I can walk the whole circle at Sugarhouse Park if you don't go TOO fast. I can chase that cat right up in the window box. However, I will stand quietly beside you for hours if you just stroke my head, or neck, or back or whatever part of me you can reach. I like other dogs, people, & kids. Take me home, give me forever love and that's what I'll give you in return.
I'm a "Dynamite" puppy with lots of love to give and a whole lot to learn. My prior owners did not work with me very much, so I'll need some training. I am house trained and doggie door trained for the most part. (I was only recently neutered so the marking is still a habit for me.) I'll "sit" most of the time but the commands "off" and "down" still need a lot of work. I could also use some walking manners. I've spent most of my life just playing with my brother, Lafayette. We've never been separated, but I think maybe I'd be OK as long as there was another dog or someone who could spend a lot of time with me. I will have to maybe test it out. I still have a lot of puppy energy. I'm very smart and would be a very special, loving addition.
I'm a playful, classic basset. I'm very tolerant and will just wait for my turn at whatever is going on. I have very short legs and would prefer a home with very few steps. But that doesn't mean I can't run! I can do the "Basset 500" with the best of them. I love belly rubs, and back rubs, and neck rubs and ear rubs and any other kind of rubs I can get. I do well playing with other dogs and like hanging out on my own sometimes, too. Because of my short legs, I don't get on the furniture so if you want me in bed with you, I'll need help up and down. I'm a very good girl with lots of love to give.
I'm a sweet, loving little girl with lots of puppy energy. I want to play, play, play and will tease right past your limit. My foster Daddy calls me "The Wild Woman". He's my favorite. I pin his feet to the bed in the morning so we don't have to get up. I'd much rather play all night and sleep during the day. I really like having my neck and chest scratched. It's the only time I can be still. Because of my bad breeding, I have some dysplaysia in my hips and am getting glucosamine to help with that and occassionally some pain meds if needed. There is a chance I could outgrow this completely. The vet wants to wait and see. I get along really well with my foster siblings and would probably do okay with or without other dogs. But remember, I'm still a puppy and need lots of attention and stimulation. Play, Play, Play...Sleep, Sleep, Sleep!
Just look at my huge dark eyes and my long soft ears! Don't you just want to cuddle and protect me? Protection is a must for me because I am an accomplished escape artist. I'm so small and quiet that I could slip right out the door past you and you'd never even notice! I'm a loving, affectionate little girl, not very demanding. I will share some of my time in your lap if you're really lucky and tell me it is okay. My favorite place to sleep is curled up at the foot of the bed. I really like spending time in the yard looking for things to dig up (yes, you might consider providing me my own sandbox if you value your yard) and just soaking up the sunshine.
Kitty is a very small basset with a very interesting face. She is very sweet and obeys most simple commands better than many bassets. She knows her name and generally comes when called. I still wouldn't take a chance or letting her walk off-leash. She was a stray after all! She is very active for her age and runs circles around the younger foster hounds. She enjoys curling up in a chair or on a pillow on the floor and really likes to be in the same room with you. She's quiet and more attentive than most bassets. She will be a very loving addition to a forever home.
Thank you to my Virtual Foster...Aunt Amity!
Boomer is a pure bred basset that weighs 45 lbs and is in great physical shape! He can run like the wind, but also walks well on a leash. If he sees his leash he gets excited and starts to chomp! Boomer loves any attention he can get and is great with children. He will even lick you and nibble at your ear if you let him! Boomer has done well with other dogs, but would get along better with a passive male or a female dog. Boomer would love to have a family that is home a lot. He has done well with our cat. Boomer is a lover and needs a home that will let him be the lap dog he thinks he is...
I like everything and everyone except Cats. Though I've never actually hurt one, I did catch one and scared it nearly to death. So, please no cats, unless, of course, you want me to get rid of them for you. I'm still really young and have a few manners to learn, but for the most part, I'm very good. I like to play with my foster siblings and wander in the yard. I'm just learning the doggie door thing and sometimes just stand there and whine when I need to be let outside or inside. I can run like the wind and jump. "Aren't tables for dancing on?" I'll steal your heart at just one glance so be careful when you look my way.
Pippi is a very sweet puppy. She loves to play and race around the yard. And, jump! She can lift a whole bowl off the counter without spilling a single kibble. She love to talk and will carry on a whole conversation if you just respond at the right times. She loves to lie in your lap and will spend hours just sleeping while you watch a movie or TV. She's a beautiful basset with a long straight body and lovely markings. She's friendly and out-going with people and with other dogs. She will be a beautiful and fun addition to a forever home.
Hi, I'm Henry. My foster mom calls me "Hank" after Hank Williams because I just love to hooooowwl like those old time country singers hitting the high notes. I am a good boy, and just the cutest thing ever if I do say so myself. I am crate-trained, good with dogs, nice to the kitty and I love to cuddle. I do not like to have my ears cleaned. Why should I stand still when no one is petting me? But, hey no one can be perfect. Speaking of some not so perfect behaviors, I do like to nip, nothing malicious, just normal puppy teething behavior. If you are willing to give me a place in your heart and home I would be willing to work really hard on my training.
"aarrooohhhhhhh," from Hank the singing hound. (My howl is in little letters because I still have a little howl...for now!)
Deputy is a very sensitive and loving boy. He's still a lot "puppy," but in spite of that he really wants to please you. He has handsome markings and actually has wavy hair down his back. He will play for hours with his foster siblings but still enjoys settling down for a good belly rub. His attention span for lap warming is not particularly long, but he loves to cuddle on the floor. He will be not only a very handsome addition to your family but a very loving one as well.
Thank you to my Virtual Foster...Aunt Sarah!
This is Bruno...he is a very sweet and polite southern gentleman. Bruno may not be all-basset but he's certainly all hound! He howls with a definite southern accent! Bruno likes everyone and everything. He's curious about the cats, but does not try to get them. He plays well with other hounds: young, old, male and female. He's very affectionate with men but doesn't mind sitting in his foster mom's lap either! Bruno's not "grabby" with snacks and waits his turn for dinner. He uses the doggy door but sometimes just sits by the door and waits politely for someone to open it. He comes when called as reliably as any other basset hound. Bruno's absolutely the most loving boy his foster mom has had in a long time. If you are looking for a real gentleman of a companion, Bruno's your man...uhh, make that basset!
